Cimson HR Services flexibly combines remote work and office days in Etu-Töölö
Cimson HR Services offers a wide range of recruitment and staffing services nationwide. Customer meetings and interviews are mainly conducted remotely, but their own office in Boffice Etu-Töölö offers the Helsinki team the opportunity to easily arrange face-to-face meetings as well.
Formed by six HR professionals, Cimson HR Services helps companies find good staff. Recruitment focuses on salaried employees, upper-level employees and experts. The company's CEO Mika Lallukka says that in addition to these roles, the company also recruits some professionals from other fields, such as electricians and accountants.
The company also offers consulting on HR matters and suitability assessment. Searches are made both with the customer's name and anonymously, depending on the situation. Cimson's customer base is very wide, including both small players and really big customers, including from the public administration. This includes companies that have an HR department and those that do not.
Errors can be costly
"Today, a job advertisement requires active marketing, competence, resources and time. If there are 100 applications, does the company have the time and know-how to pick the best candidates for the interview from among these?" asks recruitment consultant Mona Sandström and continues, "we do the search and filtering, and the recruiting company gets to spend expensive working time evaluating the best candidates."
"At worst, incorrect recruitment can cost tens of thousands of euros and a company can waste up to 6 months with a new recruitment process," says Mika Lallukka. "This is exactly why professional help is worth using."
If a company rarely recruits, there are no ready-made templates, you don't really know what to do with the applications and the whole process is a bit vague, job seekers can easily get a bad image of the whole company. With the help of a professional, suitable candidates are found with less effort and costly recruitment mistakes are avoided. At the same time, a good employer image is nurtured and even built.
Mona adds that a recruitment consultant also helps the company stay within the set schedule and avoid uncontrollable chaos, over which more urgent day-to-day operational matters are typically pushed in order of priority.
Personnel services are always expert work as hourly work, but assignments are priced as a whole.
Short-term employment relationships in which the employer has polished their own image and the employee has overestimated his or her own skills. When reality does not meet, ticking time bombs are made already at the time of signing.
With the pandemic, the conservative recruitment industry described by Mika has also introduced remote meetings. However, there is still a clear need for one's own office when one wants to meet clients and interviewees face-to-face without fear of having a shared conference room booked.
"The previous office we had was really expensive and we paid a lot for nothing for us," Mika opens up and continues: "The pandemic also changed our office work, and the previous office was too big for our company's needs. When the interviews started to be conducted mainly remotely, it was found that the change of office was timely."
Not an easy process
Finding office space in Helsinki was not easy. Mika describes the real estate industry as special. Mika started looking for a new office through Google, but quickly realized that he ended up in a jungle where the customer needs are forgotten. There are a lot of options and the challenge was the ability to find an office space that suits your needs.
"Most of them didn't even have a price online, but I had to ask them separately, and then when I asked, tehy started a really aggressive sales push on the other side," Mika says and continues, "the office rental industry is very similar to staff recruitment, if you want to find a diamond among all the options, you should almost use a consultant."
Mika's team eventually heard about Boffice from Cimson Training Services, a company which is part of the same group.
When asked for a good tip to improve office work, Mona advises everyone to plan a working day, but still leave gaps for small breaks so that the day does not become too full.
"And always remember to have lunch, I myself enjoyed lunch today in the next door restaurant Perho," says Mona.
Although there have been several unpleasant surprises in recent years: the coronavirus, the Russian invasion and the shortage of labour that is hampering the sector, Mika believes that the future will bring joyful things again.
"At Cimson, we try our best to help customers at least with the labour shortages and we hope that other challenges will be solved soon," Mika concludes.
